Water levels down...

For those of you who are wondering about conditions in the Sierra...


About two months ago we were up by Sonora Pass, and remarked on how wild and wooly the Stanislaus River looked then. Where we usually found deep dark pools, we were seeing solid whitewater. Like this:

Here is the same photo from this last weekend. Seems like a whole lot less water...which is a good thing for those guys fishing.

I just got back from coming out Kennedy Meadows. Fishermen I spoke to said the water is still too high for good fishing. I would say it is up about 5 feet from when I had been there this time of year in the past. They also said fishing is "hot" at Relief Reservoir.
