Not sure if this is too late, I was completely smoke free going over Italy Pass and Mono Pass this past week 8/28-9/4. I honestly was not aware there were fires to the north.

I was expecting bad smoke this summer, but everything south of Tom's Place or so has been pretty mellow. Seems to me, there was a lot more rain and clouds. All my full moon trips sucked. Meadows green, skeeters fierce. A couple snowfields here and there might build up.

Spent 9/7 - 9/11 in Ruby's. Waited for 90 minutes on highway to trailhead for a local fire next to road in Elko. Saw no smoke at all for 5 days hiking.
