Saddlebag Lake / Sawmill Campground

Post by Hikin Mike »

Does anybody know if Saddlebag Lake / Sawmill Campground road is open? My friend wants to get up to Conness in a few weeks. He doesn't want to walk the extra 1.5 miles!

Thanks,

Thanks,
No firsthand info, but Saddlebag Lake Resort opens on June 9th, and rumor has it that the road doesn't open until the resort does....again, not firsthand info. I may be driving by this weekend and I'll try to check it out if I do...

2 days after school lets out here in Sacramento.
Got my Tuolumne campground 1st night reservation, fishing license, and wilderness permit already - backpack is calling me... packed and waiting.
Cannot wait...counting the days.
How are the mosquitos?

As of late yesterday afternoon, the road was still closed. Forest Service folks at the Mammoth Visitors Center didn't have a clue as to when it will open. No mosquitos in the areas I stopped along Tioga Pass road.
