We crossed above that same "nice little lake." Loved the views all around that route. Ashery, did you get mired in suncups?

We crossed above Big Brewer Lake, coming in from Brewer Col.

The mountain walls rising above Big Brewer Lake; you can clearly see that some of these sun-cups are deeper than Carleton is tall- and he is 6' 4!"

These ones were somewhat smaller.

I'm stranded, afraid to re-enter icy sun-cup hell.

Hi Harlen,
Thanks; I'm feeling so much better now; yes, we could have been subjected to sun cup hell and then totally screwed up the Sphinx creek descent. I guess 50% character-building is better (in Mav's book) than nothing!
Cheers,
Cameron
PS That summer was probably the best in my experience for sun cups!

Nope! Which is fortunate, because at the time I had absolutely zero experience with snow. I did my trip back in late July '16, and while I definitely encountered some snow, all of it could be bypassed.

Thanks for posting this TR Cameron! It was super useful for planning my own recent trip up Sphinx Lakes. Your campsite at South Guard Lake looks incredible. I cruised past the lake, but I wished I had scheduled a layover day to camp that great site.
