Desolation Wilderness Zone 41 (Tamarack/Ralston/Cagwin)

Dear HST community

I am helping 5 beginner backpackers plan a trip to Desolation. They have a permit for mid-September for Zone 41 (Tamarack)

Does anyone have any beta on the available campsites?

Any recommened sites? They will have 2 backpacking tents

They will likely use this as a base camp for 3 nights.

Day 1 - Get to Zone 41 and explore Zone 41
Day 2 - Day hike to swim in Waca Lake
Day 3 - hike to top of Ralston peak

Alternatively, they could leave zone 41 and camp at Aloha on nights 2 and 3, but I will only recommend this if Zone 41 sites are poor
