Thousand Island Lake Day hike?

Post by mcontreras »

hello, I’m looking into hiking Thousand Island Lake next Tuesday. I can backpack it but I prefer to do a day hike. Which trail is more doable as a day hike? River trail or high trail?

Thank You

Great question!

Have you checked the elevation gain for each route using a mapping program?

Are you planning to do it soon or next year?

I assume you've done some pretty long day hikes in the past?

I have only taken the low route and gone to Shadow Lake, not all the way to Thousand Island. It's a pretty easy trail, meandering through the valley from what I recall.

Go in via the River Trail, exit via the High Trail.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.
