Day hiking Rock creek area 8-15

Post by overheadx2 »

Thanks for all of the input regarding lakes in the area. I always try to give a a quick report back following helpful Intel, so here it is. Ill save everyone the details since its a pretty simple day hike. By the way, I did not get a chance to check out Hammil due time and crowd constaints.

We trailer camped at French camp at Toms Place and decided to do some day hikes.
The wife had fond memories of hiking Mono Pass while we were in our 20s, so we decided to stay out of the valley area and head up to the pass with a long fishing stop over at Ruby lake. That was fun but relatively unexciting, but most importantly it was not very crowded and the fishing was pretty good for small brookies.

The next day we decided to check out Dorothy and Tamarack lakes. Talk about solitude, we probably saw 6 people the entire day. The fishing at Dorothy and tamarack were as described with a big goose egg at Kenneth and Dorothy lakes and all of the 8 to 10" rainbows and brookies you wanted at Tamarack.
