Utica Reservoir (Stanislaus National Forest)

Post by janky »

Hi. I used the search feature and found some posts on Utica but not answers to a few questions. We are headed on a Monday morning in a few weeks to try to grab a campsite (first come first served). Questions:

1. Does anyone know if there are metal bear containers there to store food? What did you do for food storage when you went? We have backpacking bear canisters so we could bring those.

2. I read there's no potable water but there are fire rings and you have to bring out your own trash. Is there running water at least for washing dishes or should we bring the backpacking gear (i.e. Kitchen Sink + Camp Suds) for washing dishes?

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.
