Harlan, what a great family trip. Your boys are lucky to have parents like you and your wife.

Thank you for posting.

Great photos and memories for a great family trip. I love the colors of the water. Great picture of the faulted, boudinaged [stretched] xenoliths [inclusions in the granite].
Thanks everyone for all of the nice comments. Bill, I would've told the boys about that, but I couldn't pronounce the terms, though the last one looks like one from my Greek heritage.* Efaristo poli, Yannis.

* Sure enough-- Xenolith literally means “foreign rock” coming from “xenos” (foreign) and “lithos” (stone) in Ancient Greek.

@Harlen, oh man your post made me smile. Thanks for sharing. Life doesn't get much better than enjoying the Sierra in the prime of summer with people we love.

I finally got the opportunity to spend the time appreciating the report and photos. It also brought back memories of family trips with our son. He always experienced a developmental leap following all our Sierra trips, a testament to the educational aspects of simply being out there. Thanks for sharing!
I don’t need a goal destination. I need a destination that meets my goals.
