Anyone interested? Trekker has been talking about doing this one for awhile . . .

Where: Telescope Peak (11,049') in Death Valley
Date: Saturday, May 20th
Meet: Mahogany Flats Campground or Wildrose Campground
Rating: Strenuous, but its on a maintained trail
Distance: 14 mi round trip
El Gain/Loss: 3,000'

Telescope Peak is 11,049 feet, the highest point in Death Valley National Park. You can see Badwater, at -280 the lowest point in the Western Hemisphere, and Mt. Whitney, the highest point in the contiguous United States.

I'm in. Rock Creek was a good time. I think Ridgeline is in too.
If anything changes let me know.

Wildrose is a great hike - I liked it better than Telescope. Are you going to camp at Mahogany Flats? If I get an early start and finish on Inyo on the 20th I might try to come over that way.

The plan is to camp at Mahogany Flats, probably both nights. Check the first campground when you go by. If its not crowded maybe we'll move down there, but not sure yet. Look for the 4Runner with snowboard racks.

When we did Wildrose last time we were hiking in clouds so no views. Hope you can make it!

I don't think I'll make it over to do Wildrose. I think Inyo will be enough for me for the weekend. I hope to get out on a group hike eventually - seems like I'm mostly hiking alone lately.

How many people are going at this point, 5?

I think it's 4; you, me, Ridgeline, and Snowy. Any idea of the current conditions on Telescope?
