Apologies to The Drifters: Up on the Ridge

I was listening to my eclectic collection of favorite 60's music. One is "Up on the Roof" by the Drifters. It's about escaping urbanity by retreating to the roof. I realized that a few slight wording changes would make it reflect my feelings about going to the wilderness. So here is my version
-Phil

"Up on the Ridge" (melody from the Drifters "Up on the Roof")

When this old world starts getting me down
And people are just too much for me to face
I climb way up to the top of the ridge
And all my cares just drift right into space.

On the ridge, it's peaceful as can be
And there the world below can't bother me.

Let me tell you now, when I come home feelin' tired and beat
I go up where the air is fresh and clear.
(Up on the ridge)
I get away from the hustling crowds
And all that city noise and stress and fear.
(Up on the ridge)

On the ridge is the only place I know
Where you just have to wish to make it so.
Oh, let's go up on the ridge.

At night the stars put on a show for free
And darling, you can share it all with me.
I keep a-telling you, right smack dab on the edge of town
I found a paradise that's trouble proof.
(Up on the ridge)
So if this world starts getting you down
There's room enough for two up on the ridge.
(Up on the ridge...Up on the ridge...Up on the ridge)

I like it too!
Like Weird Al does, I've made up my own lyrics to songs.
Like I "Eat Cocoa Puffs"... for "Oye Como Va" (Santana)
