Climbing banner peak from the JMT ?

As I've stated, you are going in September, and there should be no significant old snow nor any new snow on the west side of Banner. There are lots of rocks to step over. The one place that the surface could be slippery is going up from Lake Catherine to the saddle. It would not be a stupid idea to have some microspikes.

There are many lakes named in the Sierra Nevada, and you will see many of the same names repeated again and again (e.g. Helen). It turns out that some of those names are John Muir's daughters.
