Kings/Kern Divide

Post by Fviolich »

Has anyone been across the KK Divide recently and can comment on SNOW conditions? Headed on August 27 (Day 7, click this ImageKings Kern Divide map link to see color-coded options) from the Kern Headwaters and Lake South America over the KK Divide to Lake Reflection. Seems like Milly's Footpass (black trail) is the best option although there is Little Joe Pass (red trail) and Harrison Pass (blue trail) to consider. My wife and I are 61 and Class 2/3 backpackers. Anyone's thoughts welcome!

I took Little Joe Pass last Tuesday. It's long, and looks intimidating from the top, but it goes pretty easily at class 2 once you take the time to look at it and piece it together. Plus, completely snow free.
