I like these bags

Post by gregw822 »

We bought some of these reusable produce bags. They're mesh PET polymer. These are slightly bigger than a one-gallon ziplock, and they weigh 10 g each. That's the same as a 1-gallon freezer ziplock. but less than half what a nylon stuff-sack would weigh. Maybe even more important, they're gossamer bags that occupy almost no volume of their own. And, you can see what's inside. They're tough and seem quite durable. I'll be using them as stuff sacks for rafting and backpacking this summer.

Oops. They're widely available. Here's one source. https://www.thesistercollective.com/

Let us know how they work. I am a bit skeptical about any zip-type bag sealing totally if your gear were to fall overboard. It was my impression that the dry-bag design is preferred.

No, sorry I wasn't clear. They're drawstring, just like a stuff sack. In fact, the 10-g mass is due almost entirely to the plastic pinch-slide-close thingy. I'll use them for the first time on a river trip at the end of May. I'll give a report on them when I get back.

These seem to be mesh, as in breathable, porous, non-waterproof? nice for things you want to keep together but not protect from moisture.
