120/108 Closing 5/20

Post by maverick »

Mono Co Sheriff's Dept:
Caltrans will close Sonora Pass/State Route 108 at NOON on Thursday, May 20.

Also, High wind advisory from the Inyo/Mono County line on U. S. Hwy 395, just north of Bishop to the Nevada State Line.

Additional information from Caltrans:
Caltrans Has Closed State Route 120 W at Lee Vining Gate Ahead of Potential Snowstorm

MONO COUNTY – Caltrans closed the Lee Vining gate on State Route 120 W at 8:30 this morning ahead of an incoming storm that is anticipated to bring snow to the Sierra Nevada. State Route 108/Sonora Pass was closed yesterday. There is no estimated time for when either route will reopen.

Caltrans currently plans to keep State Route 89/Monitor Pass open. However, that could change should the severity of the storm require its closure.
With the potential for snow, drivers are reminded to keep a set of snow chains in their vehicles. Even vehicles equipped with snow tires need to keep these on hand as certain chain requirement levels will necessitate their use.

For the latest information on road closures and chain controls, please visit the Caltrans QuickMap site at quickmap.dot.ca.gov or call the Road Condition Hotline at 1-800-427-ROAD (7623).

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.
