how do you send an attached file in PM (if possible)?

Instead of emailing or messaging the Admins or Mods with technical support questions or comments about the site, we prefer you check here to see if someone else has had the same difficulty or has made the same suggestion. What you're after might have already been posted and addressed here or within the FAQ. If not, please post a detailed description of the problem/suggestion and someone from the HST team will address your needs shortly. If you can't login/post and are unable to reset your password on your own, you may contact us directly.

not sure the sw supports this, but i thought i'd ask. couldn't find an example after searching. Can you send a file to someone via PM, or is that kind of thing best handled "out of band?"

Good question, Russ. I thought I had posted something on this in the past, but after looking it turns out I didn't for some reason.

To answer your question, yes, the forum software has this capability. But I have that function turned off in PMs because of the added load it would put on storage and bandwidth (bandwidth being the primary concern) with very little return towards adding to the 'community' experience. The feature is activated for public postings because I felt, in terms of cost to benefit ratio, it was worth activating since everyone has the benefit of viewing attached photos or documents. If an attachment is required in the course of a private discussion, my hope was/is that the two parties could do so through e-mail instead.
