are current-events posts off topic?

Post by bheiser1 »

Hi,

I am 90% sure I posted a new thread in the Backpacking/Hiking forum yesterday regarding the recent waterfall mishap in Yosemite. It was a brief message with a link to a local news channel's story about the event. Today the thread isn't there. I say "90%" becuase of course it's possible i fat fingered the post and it never went online. I also wondered if it got deleted by a moderator.

In case I'm violating a rule by posting such things - are current events posts, with links to external news sites, prohibited here? Should it have been in a different forum?

Thanks!

No, posts such as this are not prohibited (as long as they fall within the HST guidelines of course). I don't see anything in the logs that a post of yours was deleted or moved.
