I was out on a brief day hike from the Wolverton trail head on 5/12/17; went to Mehrton Meadow and back.
Mostly no snow for the first mile on the trail, then about 60% coverage for the 2nd mile. Above that, 80% or more and quite deep higher up in the shade. Panther Gap along to Mehrton had good coverage, with dry patches along the south slope.
Conditions can be quite dangerous with the many creeks with soft or melting snow bridges. Even though the temps were relatively cool, the snow conditions went from firm to post holing by early afternoon.
As an aside, there is a very large bear roaming around the ridge east of Panther Gap.

Thanks! Doing the high route from there on the 25th so I was wondering how much walking there would be at the beginning.
