Piute Pass 5/5

Post by maverick »

Inyo NF:
The snow level started at ridge, just as the trail cuts up to Loch Leven. I was postholing at various depths up until Piute Lake. It was mostly knee deep, with the occasional waste deep plunge. Lakes were frozen over in morning, with heavy melt in afternoon. The pass was clear, with solid snow all the way through Humphrey Basin. Attached is photo from top of pass, overlooking basin in the morning.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.
