Conditions Request: Wallace Col/Haekle to JMT then back over Lamark Col

Post by kliske »

We're planning a trip 8/23 start date and wondering about snow conditions in the upper basins and over these passes.
We both have significant off trail experience but limited snow experience. Likely would not be bringing mountaineering boots, crampons or ice axes. Could bring microspikes.

Main concerns are steep snow fields that might be icy northfacing, or postholing down into talus gaps, but perhaps there are other issues we should look for too.

Thanks for any intel you have! Enjoy your high country season.

Hi Kirsten

I would greatly appreciate any beta on conditions as I'm doing a similar route 9/8...instead of Lamark I'm using Snow Tongue to get back over the divide... planning on bringing an axe and micro spikes but would rather not if conditions are manageable without...thanks -Ed

JMT over Lamarck to North Lake is all good. I don't know about the other parts of your itinerary.
