2020 Mosquito Reports

Use the following scale to report severity of the mozzies you experience:

1 - No mosquitoes or if there are some, but not biting yet
2 - Very light during the day, moderate at dawn and dusk
3 - Moderate during the day, heavy at dawn and dusk
4 - Heavy during the day, heavy at dawn and dusk
5 - Unbearable all day, no breaks, cannot eat outside of tent. If you stop, hundreds
will descend on you; when looking thru a camera viewfinder, you see more skeeters than
lake. If you slapped your arm, you'd smear blood from all the dead gorged bodies

Please do not post questions or ask about a particular area in this thread. Also, include where you went, with dates included, in the "Subject" box. Thanks

Crown valley, Spanish Mountain vicinity on 6-June: No mosquitoes from 6500 to 10,000 ft but I doubt you have very long before they get going. It’s late spring for sure, lots of mud, standing water, and green grass in the meadows.

1. Pretty stiff breeze may have helped, but I didn’t see any mosquitoes at all between Echo And Aloha.

They were out up to Gem lakes (didn't see any at Treasure lakes). Not biting on 6/13 (windy and cold day). 2 on 6/14. I got my first two bites of the season.

1/5. Did not get bit once on this loop. Saw maybe two the whole time--very surprised--even with a camp at Crabtree Meadow. I would put 0/5 if I could!

No mosquitoes at all. Perhaps due to very cold Saturday 6/13 and a very cold weekend one week before.

There were some mosquitoes the first day between Pear Lake and almost 10,000 ft elevation just below Table Meadows.

After that, no mosquitoes. None at all. Perhaps because it became very cold on subsequent days (one night our water bottles froze solid under the tent fly) and it was often windy.

We visited the two lakes west of Big Bird Lake and Moose Lake,
