Good points about the logistics, Daisy.

Maybe Sax plans on turning left (west) at the Lewis Creek Trail and walking past Merced Lake on his way to Yosemite Valley. That won't add too much time to the trip.

By the way, this thread seems to be in the wrong subforum.

Great points Wandering Daisy, thanks! I've factored in an extra couple miles my first day assuming lake level would be low, but I might as well call and ask. I called Reds Meadow Resort and they don't expect road work to begin until at least Oct. 8.

Ska-T is correct, I'm headed to Merced Lake instead of Vogelsang Pass.
