Sure, but it might be the other way around. :)

I'm already committed for the December weekends. I've done Ohlone from Mission Peak to Del Valle, lovely when the hills are green.

But if you're going to be in the north bay around New Years I will be at Point Reyes -- camping at Coast Camp on the 31st and Wildcat on the 1st, with three peeps from the backpacking meetup. PM if interested.

Unfortunately, I can't make it either. I'm part of a monthly writing group that is meeting that afternoon.

AT, good luck with the Point Reyes weather on New Year's.

For the past five years, it's been clear days, cold nights, and very low traffic on the trails. Awesome views out to sea. We get a burger at the cafe in Point Reyes Station before heading out to the lighthouse to whale watch, then make the five hour drive home.

It's been the case that other times of the year, we've seen rain -- everything in Point Reyes is less than a day from a trailhead, and the hostel has wonderful showers.

Been there, done that. I'll bring my buck knife. Cows aren't that smart. We can have steak at the top :unibrow:

Looking forward to that hike and you can count on my attendance as long as it doesn't conflict with my prime interest, skiing. I would like to get more days in strengthening my body mogul skiing before the big holiday period. Due to the current pineapple storm, I am missing skiing this weekend that means I am going to be more intent on skiing a single day next weekend and if so much prefer Saturday that would leave Sunday open. However the current storm track is forecast to remain very active with a major cold storm due in later this week and Saturday too far out to predict. Thus if Saturday is still storming might drive up Sunday. Will report back later this week as forecasts gel.

Generally one should expect people will have issues meeting up around this major holiday season.

David

Stanford Trailhead is a hassle parking wise, but if one allows plenty of time to look for parking along the side streets, plus add in that at 10 am we will beat Sundays mid-day crowds, we should be alright. Did not want to add on any extra driving for Jim, which is why this trailhead was chosen, plus he and Lisa are already familiar with this location. :)
Perhaps it would be better to go up the back side from Ohlone.
Rose Peak is one on the radar for early next year, as is Diablo, Purisima Creek, and Berry Berry Creek (Big Basin) in the Spring. ;)
Hi Maverick,

I second the comment above. Parking is a real PITA. One CANNOT park on side streets unless a permitted resident. See http://www.fremontpolice.org/index.aspx?NID=369

The Ohlone trailhead is probably the best choice.

I'm going to try and make it on Sunday. Depends on many factors.
