Topix Carcamp Sept 29-30

A forum to initiate member meet-up. Looking for a hiking/climbing/fishing/skiing/etc. partner, or are you planning a trip where you wouldn't mind having some company? Last minute invites can be just as fun as a well-planned group trip (sometimes even better) so don't be shy! And be sure to post a trip report to the appropriate forum when you get back.

I get to carpool. I couldn't post last night, something wrong somewhere. I forgot, that is the start of my vacation so I am flexible, even with an old bod.
Piece of cake.

:( Bad news, no campsites available at OV. Any ideas?

There's my secret spot, but you need high clearance for about 25' to get up the road.

Bishop area has several to offer - some are near good fishing spots too - that may please more people

Depends on whether you really want a campsite that takes reservations. I know what some people are looking for in a campsite, and with most reservable cg's it's not going to happen. One exception could be the (gasp, not again!) Rock Creek area. Otherwise we'll have to do it on a walk-in basis.

Wow! Who would have guessed they would have booked up already... especially for dates after school starts.

I'm game for anything.... if we decide to do the "walk in" thing somewhere - I'm planning on leaving the San Diego area early Friday Morning, so (hopefully) I'll be able to get a couple spots for the weekend, if we can't reserve.

Is anybody up for a short backpack? Like we did last year to Matlock Lake? Or do we want to keep it a car camp?

Or the lower campgrounds on the way up to Onion Valley? What is it, Grey's Meadow or something like that?
