TOPIX GROUP CARCAMP AND HIKING as of 9/19/07

We have 2 campsites reserved at Lone Pine Campground for Sat night only. ($48)

We're allowed 6 people/site, and 2 vehicles. Extra vehicles are $5 (I didn't pay for those). No campers allowed. Check-in is 2pm Sat, out by 1pm Sun.

We have sites #16 and #32.

Rosie has a site for Friday, and might have space.

Saturday hike: Onion Valley to Snow Crown. Meet at Onion Valley campground 7:30am.

Sunday hike: depends on how many people stay. Options are Dragon Peak or Kearsarge Peak.

Showers at Boulder Creek RV Park (3 mi south of Lone Pine), or at Diaz Lake RV Park (2 mi south of Lone Pine).

Dinner at Pizza Factory ? or we can discuss options

I had to look up "Tuareg," which turns out to be a Berber speaking ethnic group. Is Trailbud some sort of Berber deity, who has portable worshippers?

for those pondering what this last weeks storms may have done to the Sierras - not to fear. we encountered minimal snow(>2") below 10k and that should all be gone this week. at 13k feet the most we ever ran into was about 6" and most of that should be gone. but cooler temps are coming - I would expect it to be down around 40d at night at the 4000ft level. no projected storms for the weekend although if Thurs-Friday winds pick up it may drop temps a few degrees - nothing warm layers can't help.
