Wow. Your very last shot even made the lunar moonscape heading to Shepherd look semi-inviting. Both times I traversed it @ noon, a cold wind was blowing like a forlorn desert winter gale.

Mav: Milestone next year? Andy can show us how to get over the pass to Kaweah. I might even be able to talk Tom K into making a guest appearance. He has a very high regard for BW.

Hobbes, I have a panorama of that, but I haven't gotten to the panos yet. I'm going to French canyon for a week starting Monday morning, so it will have to wait.
Gotta try out my new EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM and get another try at the Milky Way. My current lens has no focal length scale, so it was peg it, back it off a bit and pray. Hit and miss, strike one.

Will announce the next meet-up location, and dates, sometime in Jan.

Just an aside, the series of lakes in lower Milestone Basin had no sign of other people. . but there were a lot of large fish in this lake:

Maybe the next meetup should be organized in the sensitive fishing reports section?

It is fine here in this section Jim, don't want HST members considering coming next year
thinking that fishing is the main objective of the Meet-up. It is one of many, but the most
important is that were doing this in the spirit of what HST stands for, which basically is
our love for the Sierra Mountain Range, getting to witness it, and enjoy it as a community
and with one another.

Here's an overview of the route that Jim and I took and the sights we had the chance to see.

Great story and pictures! I especially appriciate the images on the east side of Shepards pass since I hope to be on that trail in late September.

Great photos, Schmalz.

Your camp in Wrights Basin - was that Hobbes' "pothole lake"? Or a different one?
