IDENTIFYING FEATURES: Has a beard ("Soul Patch"), may have a black backpack

Does anyone here know Gregg, or seen him while out in the Goddard area? Does anyone

SEKI PA: Can you give more info on his intended route? Was he planning to use mostly
trail to Martha Lake? What experience does he have backpacking/climbing? The flyer
gives very little information.

Some input or ideas of possible itineraries would be great people, coming up
with different scenarios with your experience of the area could be helpful to SAR.

- He was starting in on the 3rd (Thursday), and planning to coming out the 7th (Monday).

- The Florence Ferry runs: 8:30/10:30/12:30/2:30/4:30 from the store to the trail
and from the trail to the store: 9:00/11:00/1:00/3:00/5:00.

- Coming from Clovis he would have caught which ferry? How long is the ride?

- It is approximately 20.5 miles, mostly by trail to the base to Goddard.

- So where did Gregg camp his first night after taking the ride from Clovis, crossing
Florence by the Ferry, and then hiking the trail?

- Did he use the Southwest Ridge (class 2-3) or West Side route (class 3) which
would have been the closest to Martha Lake? It seems he has some climbing
experience, but cannot get verify what level of experience.

Thursday: Camp near Blayney Hot Springs, if he liked hot springs, if not then
towards Aspen Meadow maybe.
Friday: Camp near Martha Lake.
Saturday: Ascend Goddard via one of the mentioned routes.

So what would you have done from here with the rest of Saturday, all day Sunday, and
then have Monday to make the last Ferry at 5pm?

Go back the same route?

Head over towards Davis Lake and then McGee Lakes coming back via the JMT thru
Evolution Meadow?

Would you maybe have used Starr's Route up Goddard instead, therefore getting
him quicker to Davis Lakes, and on to McGee Lakes after his decent?

He's been found.

Gregory Hein, the 33 year old hiker last seen on July 3rd, has been located. Earlier tonight, shortly after 7:00pm, ground searchers found Hein near Davis Lake at an elevation of over 10,000 feet.

Hein had become incapacitated due to a broken leg. SAR personnel stabilized him and he was extricated from the area. Hein is currently being flown to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.

It is now believed Hein made his hike to Mt Goddard, and injured himself on the way back down. He may have been injured for several days.
