Missing Person Alert SEKI 7/23 (Resolved)

Use this forum to stay informed on missing persons alerts, active SAR's and unfortunate hiker accidents we can all hopefully learn from. Any information you may have on a missing person, including first hand weather related information or any other insight (however little) may prove to be critical information to Law Enforcement / SAR in locating the person in question.

Missing Person Alert SEKI 7/23 (Resolved)

This is an going investigation, as information is forwarded to me, I will update asap.

Hermann Vitt is a 70 year old German, PCT hiker, starting from the border 5/21/18.
5'9" 150 lbs, green eyes, brown hair, wears glasses.

According to his family, Herman left Bishop 7/6 after resupplying, and planned to be in Red's Meadow by 7/11. He was at Kennedy Meadows on 6/26.

If you have seen Herman Vitt, or talked to him, anywhere along the PCT trail, please contact: Madera County Sheriff's Dept at 559-675-7770 (Case #2018-3348) or SEKI at 559-565-4334

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Mr. Vitt has been located, heading north, he is around Burney. :thumbsup:

Update: Carson Pass, not Burney.
