Inyo SAR Incident Mt. Whitney 8/3

Post by maverick »

Inyo Co Sheriff's Dept:
H-82 responded at first daylight this morning to Outpost Camp, on the Mt Whitney trail. A hiker experienced medical issues at Trail Crest and was assisted down trail by a friend. They made it to Outpost Camp before the injured hiker could no longer continue. H-82 was able to land at Outpost Camp to insert an Inyo County SAR member who hiked to the patient for assessment. Based on the patient assessment H-82 hoisted the party from approximately 75 feet and transported him to Southern Inyo Hospital in Lone Pine. H-82 then returned to Outpost Camp and retrieved the SAR member and the hiker’s companion.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.
