Overnight Parking in Mammoth for Backcountry Trips?

Post by iluka »

Some friends and I are planning a backcountry ski tour out of Mammoth and are looking for information on where it's possible to park overnight while out in the backcountry. I'm aware that it's not possible to do that up at the ski area but was wondering if people had advice on where else one can park and then perhaps take a shuttle up to the ski are to depart out of there.

There should be no problem parking along Mammoth Road and various other locations in May-October. It's only in winter when there are restrictions. See http://www.visitmammoth.com/blogs/what- ... moth-lakes for all the details. Scroll down to Summer Parking Rules.

We parked at the ski resort in one of the lots. Plenty of places to park up there.
