Sitting at work reflecting on my past weekend stay at Tamarack Lodge, four-day-er for my 36th, makes me yearn for yesterday, actually, Friday through Monday...the wife is a great trooper.

See what I mean....

Saturday 1/21 - Snowshoe from Twin Lakes to Lake George
Sunday 1/22 - Ski June Mountain (Fresh Snow - 6")
Monday 1/23 - Dogsled Tour

It was fun. The dogsledding was a bit cliche', sort of a touristy thing to do, but fun nonetheless.

I am still amazed as to how picturesque June Mountain is...Personally, I think it has better views than Mammoth Mountain; as pertains to what you see when skiing....but don't tell the "others".

It was a great time. After the skiing, we went to the Creekside Spa at the Double Eagle and got pampered; almost started snoring 3 times; totally relaxing.

It was a good send off before starting school for a teaching credential...woo haw.

Hey, don't knock it! When I was in Alaska, I did the same. There, I thought it was a HUGE cliche, and didn't want any part of it; that is, until I won a free dog sled trip after submitting my ticket stub from a historical tour I signed up for in a raffle and winning the prize. I was wrong. It was SO much fun!! I would have loved to travel that way back in the days before snowmobiles.

For fun, here's a good Sierra Nevada historical article that involves a sled team transplanted from Alaska to the Central Sierra that's a fun read: http://www.memagazine.org/supparch/mepo ... creek.html

don't get me wrong, it was fun...having lived in AK as well, I have an appreciation for the culture of the sledded ones....the only cliche' thing I meant was it seemed very tourist-like...to do it for only about 1 hour. However, during the tour I also found out they offer overnight camping trips with the sleds, and part of that involves the client, us, mushing our own sled, with a smaller team of course...by special reservation, etc...

I think we went with the following but am not sure...Tamarack Lodge has the details, it was in their book...but I think this is the info:

Again, it was fun and the dogs rock.
