Join a naturalist for this snowshoe hike on Sunday, February 28, at Galena Creek Regional Park. This family outing will acquaint you with how animals and plants adapt to the Sierra Nevada winter. With all of our recent new snow, this hike is sure to be beautiful as well as educational.

You will need to provide your own snowshoes, poles, snacks and water. The hike begins at noon and will last approximately three hours. Trails at Galena Creek wind through the forest and are shaded much of the way, meaning it will probably be chilly - be sure to dress warmly. Call the Great Basin Institute at (775) 674-5486 to make sure the hike is happening and to RSVP. In the event of bad weather, it may be canceled.

Galena Creek Regional Park is at 18350 Mt. Rose Highway (enter at the north entrance and meet near the restrooms). Parking is free [read more...]
