Echo Lake snow conditions

Post by TahoeJeff »

I tried to go ice fishing, but it was just too thick:

On the way back, I took some shots to show how much snow there is.
This is the chalet/lodge: (That is the 2nd floor roof!)

Is it OK to use the roof vents of the bathroom?

Here are some of the cabins on the road from the summit to the lake:

Lastly I'm pretty sure this is the Berkeley Camp chow hall:

Looking good. I want to do a short trip into Desolation in a month, can't decide which TH to go in at. :)
Piece of cake.

Ouuuuuuch. Thats a lot of snow. I've taken an "if you cant beat em join em" stance on the snowpack and I'm heading up to snowboard next week. Does anybody have a guestimate about when Sonora / Tioga might open? By all indications it looks like Memorial weekend is a pipe dream.

Hi EastSideClimb

There is a thread about guessing when Tioga will open in the "Campfire" section

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.
