Trip reports for various trips in Ca, Az, Hi, and Co

Post by jartelt »

Here are a couple trip reports I have written up over the past two months. They are not representative of current conditions, but people may find the maps, pictures, and info useful!

Trinity Alps Wilderness - Northern California

We did this hike in July, 2017. It is a 25 mile out and back hike that goes to two great lakes in the Trinity Alps. The area was really nice and had great meadows and waterfalls. The Trinity Alps are a good alternative if you cannot secure a permit for the Sierra or if there is too much snow in the Sierra. Continental Divide National Scenic Trail - Rocky Mountain National Park

We hiked here in August of 2016. This a 45 mile loop through Rocky Mountain NP that follows portions of the Continental Divide Trail. The trail was great because there were not many people deep in the park and we saw tons of wildlife. There are also great views of meadows and of the continental divide. Kalalau Trail - Kauai, Hawaii

We did this hike is August of 2015. This is a 24 mile out and back that reaches the beautiful and secluded Kalalau Beach. All along the trail you are treated to amazing views of the famous Napali Coast. This trail is pretty well known and is worth a trip to Kauai if you can afford it! South Kaibab and Bright Angel Trails - Grand Canyon National Park

We visited the Grand Canyon over Memorial Day weekend in 2015. We decided to hike down to the Colorado river and back up in one day because the weather was not too hot. This is not advised unless you are in good shape! The hikes were great, and we really enjoyed seeing both the South Kaibab and Bright Angel Trails. If you haven't been to the Grand Canyon, it is amazing. Here is the trip report: https://backpackersreview.wordpress.com ... on-hiking/
