Mike, how does this happen?! Are the skiers injured - head injuries?- or are they just somehow unable to extricate themselves? I've never heard of this sort of fatality. Thanks, Ian.

Actually it happens somewhere almost every year. Sometimes it involves a collision with a tree. Sometimes people just happen to fall in the wrong place, head first into deep, unconsolidated snow and cannot extricate themselves. There was at least one fatality at Bachelor several years ago where the person was not found until spring.
