My wife and I did a ~25 mile backpacking loop in the Three Sisters Wilderness near Bend, Oregon last August. This wilderness area is really neat with a good mix of volcanic geologic features and alpine lakes and meadows. We hiked the "Broken Top Loop" over the course of three days. We averaged about 8 miles a day, so it was relatively easy going, though there was a good amount of elevation gain. If anyone is interested to see volcanic peaks, lava flows, buttes, etc. and is near Bend, Oregon (or wants to take a trip there), this wilderness area is definitely worth a look! Bend is a cool city to visit and the trailhead for this trek was only 1-1.5 hours from the city.

I finally got around to writing up a trip report, so here are some of the highlight pictures below. You can see the full trip report here: https://backpackers-review.com/trip-rep ... -top-loop/

Hey I live in Bend! You all won't like it: too many people, too many lakes, too many great places to visit, too close to too many trail heads, too close to the desert, too close to the mountains, no granite, too many breweries and brewpubs, too far from the Sierra.
