Nice trip matt. My next years trip will again be to the Naknek river that flows into Bristol Bay in early july. The main reason is it provides the opportunity catch Sockeye to bring home to eat. In the big river with heavy current an 8 wt rod works best for them. But I will also be targeting kings and large rainbows with char, chum salmon, grayling, and pike also on the menu. In alaska timing is everything when fishing for salmon and the timing varies with location. In 2021 I am looking forward to taking one of my grandsons with me. He will be 12 then and If things continue will be playing baseball thru july and into August. If that is the case we will probably target silvers in the ocean because the window between baseball and school is before big runs hit the rivers. There are several lodges that provide for self guided opportunities at reasonable cost. One even provides for half price for 12 and under anglers!

Great Photos - Beautifully colored fish!

Wonderful to have the trip with your dad! My dad and I did some epic fishing trips when he was still around and I will never forget those trips.

Glad the fire was mostly out by the time you got there and you got some great action and a great variety of trout and salmon! Fish On!

Thanks for posting!
