trump donates his salary to the NPS

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

CREDIT?

Taking away three meals a day and giving them a few crusts of bread?

That's not something you give "credit" for. It's criminal. The budget was already inadequate. When he stops making tanks and gives the parks MORE MONEY THAN THEY GOT BEFORE he'll be doing something worthy of credit. So NO, you are pushing YOUR agenda just fine.

Token PR effort, in my opinion. It does not mitigate all his destructive, anti-science policy towareds the National Parks and envirnoment. A distraction from the real problem.

I agree. Like firing an employee without cause and then slipping him/her a twenty on the way out the door.

Makes the donor feel good. Doesn't help the fired employee with s damn.

So Trump feels good and our parks are screwed. hooray hooray hooray...

Since it's a donation, it's fully tax deductible. I doubt we will ever see the tax return it will be applied to.

Trump's donation = $78,000

Proposed cut to the Dept of Interior = $1,500,000,000 for fiscal 2018 (12% decrease from 2017)
Cost of security at Trump Tower (when Trump is in town) = $308,000/day
Cost of security at Trump Tower (for Melania and Barron) = $127,000-$145,000/day
Cost of each visit to Mar-a-Lago ~ $3,000,000

Give $78,333.32 and take away $1.5 Billion, now that is a businessman.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

The NPS is still operating on last years budget. Trump had nothing to do with it. His FY2018 proposal is just a suggestion to Congress, not binding in any way. The final budget will be passed by Congress with the President only signing or vetoing the package intact. He does not have the power to change the appropriations after Congress passes it. Wait until the final budget starts taking shape before casting praise or criticism, and direct it to the right target.
