A Salute To The Old Guard

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

I don't log in very much but I'm here and continue to appreciate all of your knowledge. Hi. When did the forum first launch? I was here around then too. I was 17 years old when the HST hack happened. Been talking about hiking online since BMUG, probably when I was about 10 years old around 1993. Then Ray's old forum. Then backpacking.net, backpacker.com, here, and now Facebook (ugh) and Reddit. This place continues to be gold.

Hey old man! (just kidding)
Check the "About" section in the main menu at the top. I've typed up a brief history, which includes (ouch) "the Russians"... It was 2005.
