I'm avoiding an EV until they can assure me that the LIon battery pack won't burst into flames. Seems like some trailhead access roads might trigger such a problem. Besides, we have a plethora of oil tankers sitting offshore waiting to be offloaded/processed.

Just a bit. My Dodge 1 ton feels very safe. 7000 lbs of safe and huge brakes.

'97 19mpg. 10 if pulling the 24' boat or the 3700lb camper.
I love my truck. Saw a prius spun out on 395 on my way to North lake a few years ago due to a hail storm. I put my rear dually right side on the shoulder and had no problems.

The Dodge was probably one of those famous Chrysler products that got 20 mpg. That means 8 in town and 12 on the road.

Some coal will always be needed

Coal is also used to make drugs and pharmaceuticals, and many petrochemicals and plastics.

The power generation thing is slowly going away. All the other uses will be with us for a long while.
