Fred Zalokar

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Fred Zalokar

Post by mort »

I thought Fred needed a little more than just "resolved." Fred was remarkable, mostly known as a marathoner and ultra-runner, having completed hundreds of races. But also a mountain climber.
Whitney-2016.jpg
Over his lifetime he traveled to 137 countries and tagged the summit of the highest peak in 78 of them.
His web site
He lived in Reno, so the Reno paper's obituary.
At 61, too damn young.

Thanks for posting this. I had seen the Yosemite notices but wasn't familiar with Fred. What a life. Wishing the best for those he leaves behind.

X2

Just finished exploring Zalokar's remarkable life and achievements. Yes, way too young, but what a full life.
