Arsonist Set Wildfires Including The Dixie Fire

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Arsonist Set Wildfires Including The Dixie Fire

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Dr Maynard and the bikini woman are an extremely troubling reality of this technological age of California overpopulation. We cannot defend our environments from such mentally twisted minds that can do immense damage. Los Angeles has had several over decades that do their deeds when Santa Ana winds rise. They need to be locked away for years, some permanently as it is murder and destroys people's whole life's work. Maynard may think starting more fires given recent news reports getting people's attention, is a way to raise opinions against climate change. In this same era, the Internet and its extreme openness to myriad others is making some crazy. Consider how weird are those so glued to cell phone screens and those that visit all manner of utterly disgusting websites.

I am not sure this is a new phenomenon. The Napa Fires of 1991 were set by a single individual driving down the road, tossing incendiary devices out the window as he drove.

We are strange creatures.

Agents used that data to follow along behind Maynard, putting out several fires and gathering evidence that could link him to the blazes.

He was caught and arrested by a local sheriff deputy, much to the FS LEOs dismay. According to the arresting officer, the feds wanted him to light a few more so they would have a stronger case. The deputy basically said screw you, this is my county and we are not letting him off the hook for your case building (where he was caught was private land inside a NF, and not fed jurisdiction anyway) . Hauled to the county jail and booked. Later transferred to fed custody in Sacramento.

Let's hope they do more than what did not happen to the huge Tuolumne County RIM Fire causer, Keith M. Emerald. The useless Fed lawyers at the Fresno office with the case effectively did squat for so long, nearly 2 years, that both witnesses died so they dropped charges. That whole time they also blacked out any information about what they were doing (sleeping and playing golf) that had the news media and a lot of people very pi$$ed.
