The way we were...

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Laid up with a full blown gout attack, perusing the entire HST site. Great thread folks, brings back some great memories and smiles.

I haven't looked at this thread in a long time. So cool! I went through some of my old photos. It seems I have many of myself fishing and diving, but I guess I was the only one with a camera when backpacking. I did find this one, lake 9797, Goddard Creek, 1985. If you were at last year's meetup, you would probably recognize the flannel shirt. I brought it on every trip until this year when I retired it.

Joe Hirsher and I fished this lake in 1974. If I can find a pic I´ll post it.

I too was going through old photos recently. I figured I'd post this one. This is me in October 1967 on the top of Alta Peak. This was my first SPS summit and I climbed it with my dad. We were a part of a Loma Prieta Sierra Club trip that climbed from our campsite at Pear Lake; this was also my first overnight trip in the Sierra. My dad took this photo and did the developing in his home darkroom as he did with all of the black and whites he took.

Since my fishing (etc.) website is still down, you can be distracted by geology stuff at: http://www.fresnostate.edu/csm/ees/facu ... ayshi.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

GB, your B&W should have been featured in Life magazine. For some reason, the old DR stuff really engages my imagination.
