Mission Peak Meet-up 12/18

A forum to initiate member meet-up. Looking for a hiking/climbing/fishing/skiing/etc. partner, or are you planning a trip where you wouldn't mind having some company? Last minute invites can be just as fun as a well-planned group trip (sometimes even better) so don't be shy! And be sure to post a trip report to the appropriate forum when you get back.

Let's move the starting point to Ohlone College Trailhead, this way everyone can park at the parking garage, at one of the parking lots, or Mission Blvd, and not have to put up with the parking hassles at Stanford Trailhead.

We will meet at the trailhead, it is located behind the tennis courts, where you see the Ysc Trail intersect with Pine Street on the google map provided. :)

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

NWS forecast East Bay Hills 1000 feet and above:

SUNDAY...SUNNY. PATCHY FROST IN THE MORNING. HIGHS IN THE 40S.
NORTH WINDS 5 TO 15 MPH.

Did not go skiing today. Snow level during the storm was higher than forecast making for hard pack snow given temp at 8k this am was 7F.

Looked at map/satellite so see your trailhead. Unsure where to park? Looks like a dirt lot over near courts? Per temperature and exposed breeze up there will need to dress warmly. Looking at the water vapor satellite air will be better dry thus clear so may bring along a tele lens. Also binoc's.

Above link has much info including a slideshow of route. Shows parking is $2 but Ohlone website shows $4... inflation. ): Looks like the "new parking structure".

Had a wonderful time, impressive turnout, met some great folks, including some next generation HSTer's :) It was a very cold and windy that day, but nothing some HST members could not handle. :unibrow:

Nice turnout! Recognize the usual suspects. Can you list the names to faces?

Excuse me for the delay but it took a few days to get the names of people in the image straightened out.

Low res for web image of the HST group at the Ohlone College Ysc trailhead at 400 foot elevation about 9:15am Sunday December 18. Sunny skies, temperature was 43F at a breezy 10 to 15 mph. Surprising numbers of other groups including hikers, mountain bikers, dog walkers, and joggers, were also already on their way up the trail that is actually mostly a wide flat dirt road.

Low res for web image of the HST group at the top of Mission Peak elevation 2514 feet about 1:15pm. Temperature was about 38F and winds a few steps away 20 to 30 mph.
