Colby Pass/Camera found

Post by caddis »

Anyone lose a camera on the east side of Colby pass? Describe it and I'll send it to you. I'd hate to think I lugged it around all week for nothing.

What's Colby looking like this year? I'm heading that way this week.

The pass itself has some snow in the bottom half of the final ascent but you can scramble up the rock until you intersect the trail again. As to the rest of the trail, the first few miles out of Roaring River is easy but the trail is wet in many places. When you start to climb towards Colby lake, keep your eyes open and ahead because the trail is little used, poorly marked, and poorly constructed (I don't believe I saw one water bar/diversion from Avalanche pass to the Kern river!). It's much of the same on the east side of the pass except it turns to an overgrown mess near the Kern. I was a bit surprised, I assumed it would be better near the bottom.

I believe that is how the owner lost his camera. I came to another section of wet trail and i decided to go through a tight group of small trees to avoid water. As I thought "this wasn't a good idea" I looked down and found the camera. Someone else had the same bad idea. lol

The vast majority were old trips from places not in the sierra, like Zion. And only a few were of the trip over Colby pass. It looked like two men. That would sound right as I only saw one or two sets of tracks up to the top

My camera has the ability (which I use) to enter the Copyright Holder information so that it is embedded into each photograph. A look through the menu of the camera may show something similar.
