Yesterday "Sport" and I had a few hours to burn so we did a quick hike up the eastern side of Deso.

There was plenty of snow on the trail.

The hike up to the lake was invigorating!

We headed back down to the TH.

We returned to the trailhead and then proceeded to hike to the falls.

Well, we had a good workout!
Eric, I know this should be filed under the "Winter Sports" tab, but I wanted those interested to see the current conditions (I type as the snow falls

)
I hope you enjoyed my report.

Thanks for the report, looks like a good time.
My wife and I stopped there one summer to soak our feet and ended up having our feet swarmed and nibbled by tiny fish.

Raining here now at So Lake Tahoe, but it will get colder and more snow is forecast.

Those pics make me want to get up there to check it out. From the sounds of things there must be quite a bit more snow now...

Nice one, Russ! The wife and I got out for the first time this past weekend with our 19mo daughter. Just a quick run around Wolverton with a kid carrier to see if the little one still liked the cold air ride on daddy's back. She liked it, but she's getting a little bit heavy for me to carry like that now. I've been doing some research on how to custom build a pulk out of a cheap plastic sled. Hoping that solves our problem and we can get out more with the kid this season; and some spots in the Tahoe area are on our to-do list for sure.

Eric, Did you ever build your pulk? I found this:
http://www.pmags.com/build-a-gear-sled- ... bagger-way
Just starting to think about easing the weight on back for doing something this Winter. There were some custom pulk builds shown on Youtube as well.
The one improvement I saw in one video was to bolt two runners towards the rear of the sled (aluminum angle stock) to provide side grip so your sled doesn't slide from side to side or down a hill.
Just wondering,
Russ

Almost 30 years ago I built a pulk with a similar design. I used aluminum tubes though as I feared the pvc might be kind of brittle. Fit it with a backpack waist belt and even fitted aluminum runners on the bottom so it wouldn't slip sideways on a sideslope.

Mike,
good that someone has.
Anyway.. If anyone has a good solution for building a ski sled, I'm all ears.

Here is my post, from 4 years ago to the day, showing my ice fishing gear.
The sled is 4 and 5 pictures down.

I didn't. Have the sled and some of the parts. The drought bummed me out and I lost momentum. If this season lives up to the hype, I'm sure I'll get my motivation back. Kids are perfect size/age now to tow behind on a good hike.
Thanks for the link.
