Mammoth Brewing Company has taken over the Whiskey Creek building - Mammoth Lakes.
Has to be an improvement...hopefully.

I'm not a fan of Whiskey Creek but the burgers I've eaten there seemed okay. The only reason I've gone there after a trip is because you can order a beer with your burger.

We base our trips out of the east side since we have unfettered access to the in-laws Mammoth house. First order of business is hot showers and a cold beer for all. Then its off to the Chart House for the salad bar and seared ahi. I'm always craving fresh veggies from the salad bar. The remainder of the group goes for large slabs of beef. After dinner, we head back to the house, copy photos from the cameras, burn onto CD's and everyone gets copies of all of the photos.
Pack in the morning, gorge at the Stove and then start the long drive back to the burbs.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I — I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Any recommended food place in Independence? I am coming out for a resupply and one night stay and will want to skip the Jetboil that evening.

Fishmonger, There is not much in Independence that I can recall. The area seems to have trouble sustaining a good restaurant, so if it's open and they have a menu, consider yourself lucky.

Well, we'll have a look when we bring our food box to the Motel before the hike. Subway at the Chevron is the backup plan, I guess.

As much as I've thought about trying this place I still have not. It seems like it's closed more often than not and looking at only 35hrs a week I can see why. Has anyone ate there?

I give it less than a month before people purposely rate it down just because they can.

Last time on southbound JMT, it was a Whitney Portal burger/frys. That was the last hot meal since Red's Meadow breakfast so it tasted great.

Our 2011 northbound JMT finished up with the worlds slowest pizza in Yosemite Village. Took about 2 hours before we were served. Had to drive back to Horseshoe Meadows after about 8PM so it was a long night.
