Have you actually been to that basin, up to Fontananillis? I didn't really care for either that lake or Dicks Lake above but very much liked the cascading stream flowing down slabs above Upper Velma. Before that trip had calculated I would be able to frame Lake Tahoe in the background with Upper Velma at mid ground that made for a rather nice 4x5 Provia transparency. However was not able to work in a foreground of the cascades because to do so required a wider lens that reduced the impact of the lakes in the background so went to a medium tele. Although that lake basin is very popular both with day hikers and backpackers, it was easy to find areas where no others were about. The lonely bench south of Lower Velma is one such place we camped with fine views.
