Cloud's Rest trail condition

Post by brianA »

I've got a friend coming in from Tennessee, and would like to take him to Cloud's Rest. Any current information would be appreciated.

Hope he is up to 14 miles and the elevation.... https://www.yosemitehikes.com/tioga-roa ... s-rest.htm

If not, Sentinel Dome is a great easy substitute,

North Dome is also an option...about 10 miles, and much less up and down

Easy conditions; you shouldn't have any problems. I did it with a friend approaching from the east side, and there was half a mile of snow towards the top but it didn't require anything beyond trekking poles. No snow anywhere else, really. That was in late June and it was his first backpacking trip. Should be even easier now.

I just got back today from a quick one night backpacking trip that included a side trip up Cloud's Rest. The trail is clear of snow, but be prepared for horrible mosquitos and a boggy, muddy trail.
