campsite advice for glen aulin pass through wilderness permit

Post by adam »

Hi,
First off, I'd like to say thanks again to everyone who wrote with such detailed information when I asked about hiking in Emigrant a couple weeks ago. It looks beautiful, and I fell in love with cherry canyon via the trip reports, but after a short trip with the kids along Yosemite creek last week, my wife decided she wasn't up for a longer cross country trip by ourselves this week, so plan B for a nice easy trip is pass through permits for glen aulin (that is, not camp at glen aulin) for 3 days, with a rest/dayhike day in the middle.

So my question is this: Based on the wilderness permit trailhead map, we can camp anywhere downstream of the creek that drains Mattie lake. For those of you who know the area (I've never been there) where would you recommend setting up camp in that area?

thanks again!
